The Amazing Benefits of Almonds

BENEFITS OF ALMONDS INCLUDE

  •  In moderation, almonds assist in weight loss – the healthy fats are highly satiating and raw almonds can help control the appetite and assist you with weight loss
  •  70% of fat in almonds is monounsaturated, which has heart health benefits that go beyond the reduction of cholesterol
  •   An ounce of almonds (28g) contains 6g of protein and a whopping 3g of dietary fiber, 80mg of calcium, along with phosphorus, vitamin E and magnesium!
  • Due to lack of carbohydrates they make a great snack for diabetics and people with blood sugar issues


CREATE YOUR ALMOND BUTTER

Get a glass jar with a proper seal to it if you want to prepare a big batch and use it over the week!

  • Get 4 cups unsalted almonds
  • ½ a teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon almond oil
  • A dash of fresh cinnamon if desired

(For my trial I used half the ingredients and it worked great!)

Place the nuts in a food processor and turn it on for 3 minutes. Stop to scrape the sides and process for another minute. Add the salt and honey and process for a further minute. This will provide you with almond butter that you can enjoy for a while. If you like the consistency you can skip adding the almond oil, otherwise add a teaspoon. Seal well and refrigerate!


ALMOND BUTTER PANCAKES

Top with your favourite fruit, mixed nuts, or a handful of chocolate chips.

Ingredients:
Makes 6 medium pancakes
1 Cup whole wheat flour
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 Teaspoon baking soda
1 Egg
2 and a half tablespoons Almond butter (you can substitute with homemade peanut butter too)
3/4 cups milk (almond milk for lactose intolerance)

Directions:
Combine all ingredients and blend well until completely combined. Pour batter onto griddle or skillet and keep the heat low, cook the pancakes until the tops begin to bubble slightly. Flip and cook the other side until light brown. Top with syrup and desired toppings (fruit & honey) and enjoy!
